Getting started
The app says it can't see my photos
Photo Cleaner needs access to your photo library. Open iOS Settings › Apps › Photo Cleaner › Photos and choose Full Access. With Limited Access the app can only review the photos you selected.
How do I use swipe mode?
Open any pile on the Clean tab. Swipe a card left to delete or right to keep, or use the buttons below the card. Tap the undo button to take back the last swipe. Tap a video to play it. When the round ends — or you tap Done — you'll review the items marked for deletion before anything is removed.
How do I switch to grid view?
Tap the grid icon at the top of a pile, or choose Review style in the app's Settings. In grid view, tap items to mark them, long-press to preview, and tap Delete at the bottom. Your choice is remembered.
What does Smart scan do?
Smart scan analyses your photos on your device to find near duplicates and blurry or dark shots. It scans your whole library and saves its progress as it goes. For large libraries, keep the app open while it runs — iOS pauses the scan when the app is in the background. Tap Scan new photos later to continue or to include new photos.
How are near duplicates chosen?
Photos that look almost the same are grouped together. In each group the app suggests one to keep (marked with a star), based on favourites, face quality, sharpness, exposure and resolution. Tap photos to change what's kept, open Compare to view them full screen, then tap Apply for that group or Delete at the bottom for all groups.
Deleting & recovering
I deleted a photo by mistake. Can I get it back?
Yes, for 30 days. Open the Photos app › Albums › Recently Deleted, select the item and tap Recover.
Why hasn't my storage gone up after cleaning?
Deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days and still use space. To free it immediately, open Photos › Albums › Recently Deleted and tap Delete All. If you use iCloud Photos with “Optimise iPhone Storage”, some space is freed in iCloud rather than on the device.
Photos I kept keep disappearing from the piles
That's by design — photos you keep won't be shown again, so you don't review them twice. To see them again, go to the app's Settings › Restore kept photos.

How do I change the number of photos per round?
Open the app's Settings and drag the Batch size slider (10–100 photos).
How do I turn the daily reminder on or off?
Use the Daily reminder switch in the app's Settings. You can also manage notifications in iOS Settings › Notifications › Photo Cleaner.
The scan results look wrong or out of date
Open the app's Settings › Clear scan cache, then run Smart scan again from the Clean tab.
